HOW IT ALL STARTED
From a very young age I started riding ponies with a friend, she was also my neighbor, we cycled everywhere to be near ponies!
At the age of 9 I saw Friesian horses for the first time at a farmer’s house, they were working with the horses.I was with this Gaastra family almost every day.
This is where my love for the Friesian horse began. In the years that followed, I was mainly found with Frisian horse owners, where I broke in the horses, participated in dressage but also prepared horses for inspection.
At the age of 38 I started my own Friesian in competitions, before that I had never competed.
With the mother of stud Jehannes 484, Femke van Dedgum, I gave sidesaddle shows for 7 wonderful years with the sidesaddle club “Fleurop”
I was able to experience what it was like to ride KFPS stud stallions, namely Ielke 382 and Dries 421.
All girls’ dreams came true!
I noticed more and more often that I was being called upon to look for a Frisian horse.I regularly visited Pieter Haijtema in Heeg, he traded a lot and asked me to look for foals for him.
I sold my own gelding, which I had M2 in dressage, to America, and that woman asked me if I knew of more Friesian horses that were for sale.
This was in a time, when there was no Facebook or Instagram yet.
In April 2005, I started my own company.
Breeding
My husband and I have had Friesian horses since 1999 and the first foal was born here in 2004.The breeding products all have “fan de iepene hikke” after their name, this is our stable name.
The highlight of our breeding was the inspections where breeding products were appreciated by the jury, they became stars, but in 2019 they even received a breeding stallion.
Willem E fan de iepene hikke, born in our stable, was given the name Wibout 511 by the studbook.But also my Geartsje fan the iepene hikke, she became Ster Sport Elite.
She was trained in dressage up to Prix St George, achieved 6 winning points in that class and this was awarded the Elite predicate by the KFPS.
